The MCM traditionally consists of two sessions, one open for the public while the other one closed.

  • During the open session, together with the Forum, the OECD presents the latest edition of the semi-annual Economic Outlook, which analyses the most important economic developments and provides a short-term economic forecast for member states. Additionally, it includes a separate chapter on the macroeconomic dimension of the MCM’s main theme. The presentation of the Economic Outlook is usually followed by two open panel discussions with the participation of invited ministers.
  • During the closed session, ministers exchange views on several relevant issues either in plenary format, or, since the changes introduced last year, in small groups.
